A sanctioned dojo of the nonprofit institution |
History |

There are basically three types of Martial Arts available in this area. |
||
For profit, non-profit, and community service. For profit schools offer many programs that have significant costs and often times long term contracts. For profit schools often focus on belt ranks and other accolades, badges, medals, trophies, etc. Although the techniques taught are similar in all martial arts, the focus of most for profit schools is sporting activities and determination. There are very few non-profit Martial Arts Organizations. The Tiger's Den is a sanctioned dojo (School of Martial Arts) belonging to the larger non-profit organization, the Shotokan Karate of America. The Tiger's Den follows the rules of the Shotokan Karate of America (SKA) and does not make martial arts a primary source of income which means: |

The Tiger's Den (aka Temecula Shotokan since 1980) had a name change to mark it as put by Jeff, a place for a community. A den rather than a style. The Tiger's Den was founded anew by Jeff mckendricks and Brad Landon in 2002 who were joined by Joe Johnson in 2004. Jeff has been teaching martial arts since 1979 and is currently a professsor of Education and Anthropology. Brad has been teaching martial arts since 1987 and is currently a lawyer at his own firm. Joe Johnson has been teaching martial arts since 2004 and is currently the owner of a local construction company. For Jeff, Brad, and Joe the martials arts are not a profession but are a "way" of life. We encourage each member to include martial arts in their life and not just make a life of fighting.
