  The staff at the Tiger’s Den is made of professionals not just commercial martial artists. A commercial martial artist is one who earns the majority of their income through martial arts. At the Tiger’s Den instruction is part of life and is designed, especially for the children, to incorporate life lessons and diversity. A martial artist in today’s world has to also consider being an individual success outside of martial arts training at their school, work, and as member of the community. Martial arts such as Karate-dō emphasize the whole life, meaning you can never be separate from yourself. So, being a good martial artist also means being good in life. Our staff in addition to Miss Patty are:

Jeff McKendricks: The senior instructor is currently a professor of education and also of anthropology. Jeff oversees all the dojos and instructs at each on a floating basis. Jeff has been teaching at martial arts schools (dojos) since 1980 and has had a continuous career in martial arts at The Simi Valley Dojos and The Temecula Dojos teaching both children and adults. Jeff in addition to instructing for the SKA for 30 years is a fight inspector for The California Amateur Mixed Martial Organization (CAMO) and has also been a boxer and full contact fighter.

 

Brad Landon: The dojo manager and chief instructor is currently practicing law and is the owner of his own law firm. He is also a Board Member and Fight inspector for The California Amateur Mixed Martial Organization (CAMO). Brad is in charge of the staff and scheduling at The Tiger's Den while his main dojo is the Temeku Hills Country Club Facility. Brad started his martial arts career in The US Army and has also practiced Kendo and Jujitsu.

Joe Johnson: The instructor at Morgan Hills is the owner of a local construction company. He started his training with the SKA at the Simi Valley Dojo in 1987 and had experience in kung-fu prior to that. He has been a member of the Temecula Dojo since 2006 and has been a valued contributor to martial arts for many years.

 

Dojo Assistants:

Christy Johnson since 2006
Is a professional travel consultant, leader with the Girl Scouts of America and is the office manager for a local construction company. Christy has also been a supporting member in martial arts and overseen her children’s advancements for ten years.  

Skip Benedict since 2009
Is a surveyor’s apprentice. Skip started martial arts training as a boy and has been selected for his unique and balanced personality and ability to train hard and often.

Scott McClung since 2009
Is a psychologist working in private practice and for the County of Riverside. Scott started his martial arts training in 1985 and continues to be a strong leader. He had an interlude from the SKA and achieved a black belt in a kindred organization. .
